No. The app never asks for one. You only make an account if you buy Managed, because a licence has to belong to someone.

Screenshots are recognised on your PC. Captures can be kept in local history, which you can turn off. Piper and Windows read offline. Cloud voices and online AI send text to your chosen provider; Managed uses the Speakybara service.

It reads pixels, not documents, so it works wherever something is on your screen: a scanned PDF, an error dialog, a remote desktop, a paused video. It does not care which program drew it.

No. A screen reader is NVDA or Narrator: software that describes a whole operating system to blind users. Speakybara is a read-aloud tool — you pick a piece of the screen and that gets read.
