Terms
Two things are covered here: the app, which is free and open source, and Speakybara Managed, which is a service you pay for. Only the second one is a contract with us.

Who you are dealing with
Speakybara is run by Speakybara [placeholder], registered in the Netherlands under KVK number 00000000 [placeholder], VAT number NL000000000B00 [placeholder]. Full details are on the imprint page.
These terms apply from the moment you buy Speakybara Managed. Using the free app needs no agreement with us at all.
The app
- Speakybara is free to download and free to use, for as long as it exists. There is no account, no trial and no feature behind a paywall.
- The app itself is published under the MIT licence, so you can read the source, build it yourself and check what it does.
- It is provided as it is. We do our best, but we do not guarantee that it is free of faults or fit for a particular purpose, and that is normal for software given away for nothing.
- The voice services it can talk to belong to other companies. Microsoft's and Google's own terms apply to what those services do.
Speakybara Managed
Managed is the same app. What you buy is a service: we run the Google Cloud project, the API key and the billing, and your app reaches Google's voices through us.
- Price
- €59 per year or €6.99 per month, both including VAT.
- Renewal
- Automatically, at the same price, until you cancel. We email you 30 days before.
- Devices
- 3 at the same time, activated and deactivated from your account page.
- Fair use
- 400,000 characters a month, about 133 pages. The first 60,000 use the Chirp 3 HD voices, the rest continues on WaveNet.
- Cancelling
- Any time. Managed keeps working until the end of the period you paid for.
When the allowance runs out
Personal use, and what counts as abuse
A licence is for one person, on up to 3 devices they use themselves. Sharing a key with a team is not what the fair-use allowance is priced for; if you need several people covered, write to us and we will sort something out.
We may suspend a licence if it is clearly being used by many people at once, driven by a script, resold, or used to generate speech in bulk for another product. We tell you why, and if it was a misunderstanding we switch it back on.
Availability
We run the Managed service with care but do not promise a percentage. It depends on Google's service as much as on ours, and neither of us controls the internet in between.
This is also why the app never depends on us: when our service or Google is unreachable, Speakybara carries on with the local voice and tells you once. If we are down for a long stretch, write to us and we will make it right on your next renewal.
Changes
We can change these terms, the price or the fair-use allowance. If a change is to your disadvantage, we email you before it takes effect and you can cancel; you get back the part of the period you paid for and did not use.
The date at the top of this page is the date of the last change.
Withdrawal and refunds
As a consumer in the EU you can withdraw from your purchase within 14 days, without giving a reason, and get the full amount back — even if you have already used the Managed voices. We do not ask you to waive that right at checkout.
The refunds page explains how to ask and includes the model withdrawal form.
Liability
If we cause you damage, our liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it happened. That limit does not apply to intent, gross negligence, or anything the law says cannot be limited.
Speakybara reads what it recognises. Text recognition can misread a character, so do not use it as the only check on something that matters, such as a dose, an amount or a legal deadline.
Law and disputes
Dutch law applies. As a consumer you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country you live in, and you can always bring a dispute before the court where you live.
Write to support@speakybara.app first. Almost everything is a misunderstanding that one email fixes.
